“Then [David] took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached Goliath.”
– 1 Samuel 17:40
When we’re consistently reaching beyond our current station and striving toward our full potential, the non-competitive view of our efforts is that the change, challenge, and resistance we’re up against is more than we can handle, that we’re not talented enough to achieve all that we’ve set out to achieve.
But for the Honorably Inclined – for those of us working hard to maximize our opportunity – long odds on paper, an unfavorable tale of the tape, and the doubting critical masses, are but normal course predictable variables, gifts of motivation confirming that we’re on the edge of transcendence, that we are in fact reaching beyond our current state to become all that we can become in Honor of Life, in honor of the honor we’ve been afforded, in honor of the higher source of the Life opportunity itself in connection with our own personal beliefs.
To transcend is to move beyond the places that seek to contain us.
To transcend we must hold our Character true and our Will strong – we must sustain our purposeful willingness through the forces of adversity, regress, and Pain that are part and parcel of the process of becoming. To transcend, we must overcome the fears and weaknesses of the Lower & Less mindset that allow us to betray our loyalties to Honor Life, that allow us to submit to the pressures of concept conformity and accept less than we’re capable of in Life.
For Highest & Best, staring down long odds, critical views, and adversity is a daily affair. Threading the needle of “impossibility” is the call of our highest potential, a call that all hear but few respond to.
What is “impossible” for Lower & Less is a frontier of possibility for Highest & Best.
To rise above and overcome is to adapt, to transcend, to become in Life. To rise above and overcome is to commit Character, resolve Will, and fly because you can, because you must, because you’re committed and driven to Honor Life.
To rise above and overcome is to be Honorably Inclined.
