“We are an intelligent species and the use of our intelligence quite properly gives us pleasure. In this respect the brain is like a muscle. When it is in use we feel very good. Understanding is joyous.”
– Carl Sagan (1934 – 1996)
When the results in our Life aren’t in line with our expectations, we can only look to the decisions we’ve made and the actions that we’ve taken for explanation – we can only look to the means to our ends, the causes to our effects, to understand what is impairing our efforts to create the value that we seek in Life.
When we’re unclear about how to elevate and sustain our own well-being across the whole of our enterprise, Life gets frustrating in a hurry.
When we’re unclear about how to utilize our powers and freedoms to self-direct our actions to create and sustain the value that we want and need everywhere that we’re accountable to do so, we begin to believe that we have less control over our Life than we actually have.
Rather than dig in and get underneath what is required to do the work necessary to manage our bottom line well-being, Lower & Less casts off the effort to do so as too complicated and leads us to resign ourselves to accept less than we’re capable of, to just “do the best we can with what we have”, to just accept the regress and Pain that comes along with failing to lead our Life as just “part of Life”.
Doing the best we can with what we have is to Maximize Our Potential.
Maximizing Our Potential demands that we understand our roles and responsibilities as owners, leaders, operators, and governors of our own Life, that we’re intimate with the means to our desired ends, and that we’re actively taking a structured approach to managing and optimizing those means to make the most of our Life. For Highest & Best, this is all just table stakes for opportunity we’ve been afforded.
